Shopify to eMAG Integration

Reach buyers across Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria from your Shopify store

Overview

For Shopify merchants, eMAG is the gateway to Southeast Europe. It is the dominant marketplace in Romania, with more than 30 million monthly visitors and over 25% market share, and it extends from one seller account into Hungary and Bulgaria as well. These markets are still growing above 20% a year, with less seller saturation than Western Europe — a strong fit for Shopify brands looking to expand beyond their core region without launching country-specific stores.

Marqetir connects to Shopify as an installed app using OAuth, so you authorize it once from your Shopify admin and grant it scoped access to your products, inventory, and orders. From there it reads your catalog through Shopify's Admin API and maps each product into an eMAG-compliant offer. There are no API keys to copy by hand and no theme code to touch — the connection is managed entirely through Shopify's app authorization flow, which is the difference that matters versus a WooCommerce setup.

Once authorized, the app keeps Shopify and eMAG in step automatically. Shopify product, variant, inventory, and price changes flow toward eMAG, and eMAG orders are written back into Shopify as native orders so fulfillment, customer records, and analytics stay in your existing dashboard. Because everything runs through the hosted app, there is nothing to install on your store theme and nothing that can slow down your storefront.

eMAG's economics are attractive for Shopify sellers testing a new region. There is no monthly marketplace subscription, no payment-processing surcharge, and no per-item fee — only a category commission of 7% to 15%, with most categories between 8% and 12%. The same rate card applies across Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria, so adding a second or third country expands reach without adding fixed cost.

Selling well on eMAG still takes local nuance, and Marqetir handles it. The app generates Romanian, Hungarian, and Bulgarian listings to satisfy eMAG's local-language requirement, prices products in RON, HUF, and BGN, accounts for cash on delivery in Romania, and supports the eMAG Genius loyalty program whose members convert at higher rates. The aim is a Shopify-native eMAG channel that behaves like the rest of your store rather than a disconnected spreadsheet.

  • Listings prepared in the local language of each target country (RO / HU / BG)
  • A way to ship within each target country, or eMAG Fulfillment / Genius enrollment
  • A bank account able to receive payouts in the relevant local currency

What Syncs Automatically

Catalog sync

Products and variants are pulled through the Shopify Admin API under the permissions you grant at install, then transformed into eMAG offers with required attributes and EAN matching.

Inventory sync

Stock updates flow both ways in near real time, so an eMAG sale reduces Shopify inventory and a Shopify sale deactivates the eMAG offer when stock reaches zero.

Price sync

Shopify prices convert to RON, HUF, and BGN using your rules; any price change in Shopify propagates to every connected eMAG country.

Order sync

eMAG orders, including cash-on-delivery orders common in Romania, are created as native Shopify orders so fulfillment and reporting stay in your existing admin.

Returns sync

eMAG's 14-day return window (longer for Genius) is reflected back in Shopify: return and cancellation events update the matching Shopify order.

How to Connect

  1. 1

Install the Marqetir app from Shopify

Add Marqetir to your Shopify store and approve the OAuth permission request. This grants scoped access to products, inventory, and orders — no API keys to copy and paste.

  2. 2

    Connect your eMAG Marketplace account

Enter the API credentials from your eMAG seller portal. Marqetir links the Romania, Hungary, and/or Bulgaria sites your account is approved for.

  3. 3

    Map products to eMAG categories

AI matches your Shopify products and variants to eMAG's category tree and completes the mandatory attributes each category requires before an offer can publish.

  4. 4

    Localize listings per country

Generate Romanian, Hungarian, and Bulgarian titles and descriptions, then review them. eMAG won't accept listings that aren't in the local language, so this step is required.

  5. 5

    Configure currency, pricing, and shipping

Set RON, HUF, and BGN prices via rules or fixed values, and define delivery times, returns, and whether you self-fulfill or use eMAG Genius for each market.

  6. 6

Publish and manage orders in Shopify

Push offers live to your chosen eMAG sites. Inventory and price stay synced automatically, and each eMAG order — COD included — appears in your Shopify admin to fulfill.

Who It's For

Shopify brands entering a new region cheaply

With no eMAG monthly fee, a Shopify merchant can launch in Romania, watch performance, then switch on Hungary and Bulgaria from the same app once a category is validated.

High-margin protection in low-commission categories

Electronics at 7% and Home & Garden near 8% let Shopify stores keep more margin on eMAG than on most Western marketplaces, while competing against fewer sellers.

Reducing reliance on a single sales channel

DTC Shopify stores and brands already on Amazon add eMAG as a diversified, fast-growing channel without rebuilding their catalog or running a separate storefront.

Meeting eMAG's language rule without local staff

Merchants who don't have Romanian, Hungarian, or Bulgarian copywriters use AI-generated local listings to publish compliant, higher-converting offers.
