Commission rates, requirements, and total selling costs — updated July 2026
otto.de is Germany's second-largest e-commerce platform, and OTTO Market is its marketplace program for external sellers. The fee model has two parts: a base fee of €99.90 net per month (raised from €39.90 in August 2024, terminable monthly) and a sales commission of 5–22% of the gross sales price depending on the product group — PC components at 5%, consumer electronics at 7%, clothing at 14–19%, jewelry up to 22%.
Two details matter for margin math: OTTO also charges 16% commission on the shipping costs the customer pays, and since October 2024 more than 15 product groups use price-tiered commissions — generally the higher the item price, the lower the percentage (large appliances: 9% up to €600, 7% above). Payment processing (2.7%) is already included in the commission.
OTTO curates its assortment: registration is open via otto.market, but every seller's product range is reviewed. Sellers handle their own shipping (2–4 working days, tracking required) and returns. German return rates are notoriously high in fashion, so factor return handling into your margins.

Electronics carry the lowest rates (PC components 5%, consumer electronics 7%) — well below the 15% standard, and below Amazon.de referral fees in the same categories
Price-tiered groups reward higher-priced items: large appliances drop from 9% to 7% above €600 — check your exact tier in OTTO Partner Connect
The €99.90/month base fee needs roughly €700+ in monthly sales to stop mattering — OTTO is built for committed sellers, not testers
Factor in Germany's high return rates (up to 50% in fashion) when calculating true costs — returns on OTTO are your responsibility
Compare OTTO's effective cost (commission + 16% on shipping + returns) against Amazon.de's total cost (referral fee + FBA + storage + ads) — OTTO's minimal advertising pressure often evens it out
