Understanding Walmart's Listing Quality Score

Walmart's Listing Quality Score (LQS) is a 0-100 rating visible in your Seller Center dashboard that directly impacts search ranking and Buy Box eligibility. Unlike Amazon, which keeps its quality metrics mostly hidden, Walmart explicitly shows sellers exactly what needs improvement. This transparency makes LQS optimization more straightforward — you can see exactly which fields are incomplete or below standard.

Content Quality is King

The largest component of LQS is content quality: title format, image count and quality, description completeness, and attribute coverage. Walmart explicitly penalizes listings with missing or incomplete product attributes because attributes power the site's guided navigation (filter) system. A product with 50% attribute coverage is invisible to half the buyers who filter their searches.

The WFS Advantage

Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) provides a significant boost to listing visibility. WFS items get the 2-day shipping badge, priority Buy Box placement, and eligibility for Walmart+ free delivery. In competitive categories, WFS can be the difference between winning and losing the Buy Box. The fulfillment fee structure is competitive with Amazon FBA and includes storage, pick-pack, and shipping.

Rich Media and Enhanced Content

Walmart's Rich Media feature (similar to Amazon A+ Content) allows sellers to add enhanced images, comparison charts, and detailed content below the fold. While not all sellers have access immediately, Rich Media significantly improves conversion rates and contributes positively to LQS. Apply for Rich Media access through Seller Center once your account is established.
