Many Allegro sellers focus only on the prowizja when calculating profitability, but marketplace fees are just one piece of the puzzle. To know whether a product is truly profitable on Allegro, you need to account for five cost layers: marketplace commission (prowizja), the 23% VAT added to that commission, your product cost (COGS), shipping and fulfillment, and VAT obligations on your sales. This calculator combines them into a single profit figure.
1. Prowizja (Commission): Per Allegro's official price list, net commission rates range from 1% to 17% depending on category — for example 2.5-8% for Electronics, 4.5-11% for Home & Garden, and 13-17% for "Accessories and others"; Fashion is tiered at 11.5% net up to 110 PLN with a reduced rate above. The commission is calculated on the item price together with the delivery cost paid by the buyer. Listing is free and no subscription is mandatory, though optional business subscriptions (49-3,000 PLN/month) reduce commission rates.
2. VAT on the Commission (23%): Allegro's published commission rates are net, so 23% Polish VAT is added to the commission — a 10% net rate is roughly 12.3% gross. There is no separate payment processing fee: payment costs (Allegro Pay, BLIK, cards, bank transfers) are included in the commission, and older guides mentioning a 1.3% payment fee are outdated.
3. Product Cost (COGS): Your cost of goods sold is typically the largest expense. Whether you manufacture, wholesale, or dropship, knowing your exact per-unit cost is essential. Include packaging materials and any prep costs in this figure.
4. Shipping and Fulfillment: Domestic Polish shipping via InPost lockers costs 8-15 PLN per parcel. Courier delivery (DPD, DHL, Pocztex) runs 12-25 PLN. If you participate in Allegro Smart!, you absorb the shipping cost but gain significantly higher visibility. International shipping from outside Poland adds 30-80 PLN depending on origin.
5. Polish VAT (23%): If you are VAT-registered in Poland (mandatory above 200,000 PLN annual revenue), you must collect and remit 23% VAT on every sale. The VAT is embedded in your selling price, meaning a 200 PLN item actually generates 162.60 PLN in revenue after VAT. Non-registered sellers below the threshold do not need to add VAT.
Input your Allegro selling price in PLN, product cost (what you pay your supplier), and shipping cost per unit. Use your actual InPost or courier rates for accuracy.
Choose your Allegro product category for the correct prowizja rate. Toggle VAT on if you are VAT-registered in Poland (mandatory above 200,000 PLN annual revenue).
The results show your net profit per unit, profit margin percentage, and a complete breakdown of every cost. If margin is below 20%, consider adjusting your pricing or supplier costs.
COGS is usually your largest cost. Negotiate volume discounts with suppliers, explore alternative manufacturers, or consider buying directly from factories rather than through distributors. Even a 5% reduction in COGS can double your profit margin on low-margin products.
Compare rates across InPost, DPD, DHL, and Pocztex. Bulk shipping agreements can reduce per-parcel costs by 20-40%. If you ship more than 500 packages per month, negotiate directly with carriers. For Allegro Smart! sellers, ensure the shipping cost is factored into the item price.
If your product fits multiple Allegro categories, list it in the one with lower prowizja. Per Allegro's official price list, Electronics subcategories run 2.5-8% net while Home & Garden runs 4.5-11% — the right choice can cut your commission by more than half. Check Allegro's full price list (9,000+ categories) for your exact subcategory rate.
Selling a 3-pack instead of individual items spreads your fixed shipping cost over more units while Allegro's percentage-based fees remain the same. A product that breaks even at 50 PLN might generate 15% profit at 150 PLN for a 3-pack.
